Originally set up to serve the textile market in the southeast region of the United States, PHT International, Inc. emerged as a pioneer in delivering solutions from China by Founder and Chairwoman Lihong Yu.
While the company was established in 1993, its inception goes back further. Lihong was born in Ningbo, China and raised through the Chinese Cultural Revolution in the late 1960’s. As with many who were skilled and educated during this period, her parents were exiled to the countryside during the decade-long revolution; she was just six years old. It was in the food markets of Ningbo, in the care of her grandparents, that Lihong’s tenacity and talent for negotiations emerged.
Yu took on the responsibility of managing the household budget to ensure the entire family could be fed. She sought, purchased, and negotiated her way into stretching their limited income. In the end, her drive and pragmatism became lifelong pillars that eventually gave birth to PHT.

In the late 1990’s, Lihong spotted the trend of large chemical companies going directly to China and many set up their own sourcing offices in hubs like Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong that remain to this day.
As a westernized company with global reach, Lihong focused PHT in agricultural and pharmaceutical chemicals. This quickly turned into plant partnership/ownership options with sourcing, researching, developing, and manufacturing capabilities.
